We love pets! And we want all family members to come into our IKEA store and have a great day together. But because our facilities include a space dedicated to catering, our food hygiene and safety policy requires us to keep a number of standards in mind.
- Your pet can go with you to all our facilities, except for Småland and our food areas: Swedish Restaurant, Swedish Bistro and Swedish Food Market. In these dining and food sale spaces, access to pets is restricted, excluding legally recognized assistance dogs and law enforcement authority dogs on duty.
- You can bring your dog with you as long as it is kept on a non-extendable leash of a maximum of 1,5m. In the case of potentially dangerous dogs (PPP), the leash must be non-extendable and of less than 2 meters, and they also must always wear a buzzle. Only one PPP dog can be walked per person, and it is necessary to carry the administrative license and register certification of the corresponding Municipal Registry, in accordance with the appliable regulation.
- Pets are not allowed to climb on furniture in any of our commercial or rest areas. Pets must always remain on the floor or inside carriers that do not allow the animal to get out. Pets can access the restroom area, but under no circumstances shall sinks be used as drinking fountains.
- The access and stay of assistance dogs (guide dogs, service dogs, signal dogs, warning dogs) is allowed, without exceptions nor discretionary restriction, in all the establishment, including dining and food sale areas, always recognized or accredited in accordance with applicable regulations and properly identified, accompanied by the user, except in food handling or authorized personnel only areas. Said access is a right and cannot be prevented except for lack of the animal’s hygienic and sanitary conditions or imminent or serious risk, duly motivated and, if required, justified in writing.
- Make sure your pet is always under the supervision of a responsible adult and avoid leaving it tied up outside the facilities.
- Any other type of pet that is not a dog must always stay inside their carrier and it may not be removed from the carrier for the duration of the visit to our facilities. This measure is not applicable to assistance dogs.
- Keep in mind that shopping carts and baskets are not designed to transport pets. For their safety, avoid carrying them in them.
- Please avoid using stairs or escalators if your pet is not in a carrier or in your arms, there is risk of entrapment. We recommend the use of the lift.
- If your dog has been declared to require special handling, has had aggressive episodes towards animals or people or is considered a potentially dangerous breed (relation in the annex of the Royal Decree 287/2202), must wear a muzzle at all times, a non-extendable leash of less than 2 meters and the responsible owners must bring the corresponding documentation, apart from complying with the safety measures required in the applicable regulation for owning potentially dangerous animals.
- Please prevent your pet from relieving itself inside our facilities. If this happens, the owner shall immediately pick it up and clean it and notify our personnel to ensure that the area is sanitized by the cleaning team.
- Make sure to comply with all the legal provisions on pet ownership in terms of health, hygiene, and safety measures, as well as the identification, vaccines and registration obligations that are demandable for each animal species, in accordance with current health regulations.
- To ensure the safety of our customers and to avoid dangerous or uncomfortable situations to people or animals, IKEA can restrict the admission of companion animals based on objective criteria regarding safety, capacity, hygiene, or welfare, but this restriction does not affect in any case to assistance dogs, except for objective risks duly justified according to the regulations.
- IKEA reserves the right to modify these regulations if they deem it necessary.
- We aim to respect all visitors, that is why our policy must take into account that certain areas have unique hygiene and food safety requirements.
- In addition to the requirements stated above, all dogs that access IKEA or any of its pickup points must be identified and comply with health, registration, vaccination, and documentation regulations always required by applicable national and regional legislation.
