We love pets! And we want all family members to come into our IKEA store and have a great day together. But because our facilities include a space dedicated to catering, our food hygiene and safety policy requires us to keep a number of standards in mind.

  • Your pet can go with you to all our facilities, with the exception of Småland and our food areas: Swedish Restaurant, Swedish Bistro and Swedish Shop. (Applicable for any IKEA store or IKEA point with a food area).

  • You can bring your dog with you as long as it is kept on a leash of a maximum of 1,5m. Pets are not allowed to climb on furniture in any of our commercial or rest areas. Pets must remain on the floor at all times or inside carriers that do not allow the animal to get out. Pets may access the restroom area, but under no circumstances may they use the sinks as drinking fountains.

  • Access is allowed to guide dogs (visually impaired users), service dogs (physically disabled users), signal dogs (hearing impaired users) or warning dogs (to provide medical warning to users suffering from diseases such as diabetes or epilepsy, among others) that are duly certified.

  • Make sure your pet is always under the supervision of a responsible adult and avoid leaving it tied up outside your IKEA store. Since escalators may pose a risk to your pet, try using another option.

  • Any pet other than a dog must be kept in a carrier and cannot be left out of the carrier during the entire visit to the IKEA premises.

  • Please avoid using stairs or escalators if your pet is not in a carrier or in your arms, there is risk of entrapment. We recommend the use of the lift.

  • Also remember that if your dog has been trained for attack and defense, has had aggressive episodes or is considered potentially dangerous, it must wear a muzzle at all times, in addition to carrying the appropriate documentation. These breeds are contemplated in the Royal Decree 287/2002 of March 22nd, which implements the Law 50/1999 of December 23rd, 1999, on the legal regulations regarding the ownership of potentially dangerous animals.

  • Each pet owner must carry, at all times, excrement collection bags, as well as cleaning wipes, if necessary.

  • Please prevent your pet from relieving itself inside our facilities. If this happens, the owner will immediately pick it up/clean it and notify our staff to ensure that the area is sanitized by the cleaning team.

  • The owner shall be held responsible for any damage and/or harm caused by his or her pet to the IKEA premises or to third parties, and shall be liable for any expenses or costs resulting from such actions.

  • Make sure to comply with all the legal provisions on pet ownership in terms of health, hygiene and safety measures.

  • To ensure the safety of our customers and to avoid dangerous or uncomfortable situations to people or animals, IKEA reserves the right of admission of pets to events taking place in the store.

  • IKEA has the right to require to leave our premises to any pet owner that does not comply with any of the points included in these regulations, as well as those that disturb or threaten the well-being and safety of our customers, whether in terms of behavior, noise or hygiene.

  • IKEA reserves the right to modify these regulations as it may deem necessary.

  • We aim to respect all visitors, that is why our policy must take into account that your IKEA store has unique hygiene and food safety features.

  • In addition to the requirements stated above, dogs that enter IKEA or any of its pick up points and/or city shops must be duly vaccinated and comply with the Decree of May 17th, 1952, BOE-A- 1952-7152, which declares mandatory registration and vaccination of dogs at the expense of their owners.
