IKEA
for your business

Day in day out we spend hours sitting behind our desks, while most of us know it’s actually not that great for our bodies. Some have even called it the new smoking. The solution is easy: simply switch between sitting and standing to boost energy levels, improve concentration and reduce back problems. By investing in affordable standing desks everyone will be motivated to move throughout the day and take better care of their mind and bodies. As a result, the entire office will become more dynamic and movement-concious. In this guide we’ll walk you through it and show you how to make the most of these sit/stand desks.

In a better position

Our height-adjustable desks will help your team alternate between sitting, standing or – for those who like a compromise - leaning in. Just make sure you’ve got the technique right. In all positions, your screen should be at eye level, tilted slightly back and about an arm’s length away. When standing, the arms should rest at a 90 to 120-degree angle, keyboard at elbow height. The half-standing position is great, too. Set your desk and stool in such a way that your elbows are resting on the table top. Keep your back straight, knees soft and feet flat. This also goes for when you’re sitting. Remember to relax your shoulders, while those elbows can be a bit more open. And for when you want to sit down: choose chairs with good lower back support. After a few practice rounds you’ll never feel like sitting down all day again. It’s a smart investment as well: less pain means fewer sick days and more energy in the office. Who can say no to that?

People + Planet

Today, steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world. This type of material is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production. Furthermore, it does not lose any of its properties when recycled.

This desk never gets in the way

Standing desks are about more than just good posture and increased concentration. They come with a number of features to help them fit seamlessly into the workplace. We’re not just talking about the buttons that make them go up and down, here. Take MITTZON’s memory setting, which gives your employees the option to pre-set their preferred standing and sitting height – so they don’t have to fiddle with it during the day. While you are changing the height of the desk, our anti-collision feature will stop it automatically from bumping into plants or chairs. As a bonus, a cable management tray keep cables neat and tidy, even as the desk moves up and down. To improve focus even more, add acoustic screens, helping everyone find their best zone: both physically and mentally.

""At IKEA, we understand the importance of comfort and support when you’re spending long hours at your desk. A sit/stand desk allows you to seamlessly adjust the height of the work surface. We believe that these features should not be a luxury for the few, but accessible to many. That’s why we make sit/stand desks affordable while maintaining our high standards of quality and function.""
